Soul Filling Solo

solo movie poster

Solo is an anthology of four tales based on four elements – Fire, Water, Wind and Earth. Dulquer Salmaan is the common element, playing four different characters in each story. And this incredible feat has earned him a lot of praise from the critics, though they were less favorable for the movie’s treatment and preference to style over substance.

Bejoy ‘s writing is joyful and engaging, and he has used different color tones, music and even backdrop for the four stories.

Overall, Solo is a gorgeous-looking film. It has its definitive colour and some cosy moments.

Jallikattu

Jallikattu

WHAT IS JALLIKATTU?
Jallikattu only is a small part of the celebrations on the day of Mattu Pongal, which signifies thanksgiving to cattle.
Mainly it is the show where bulls are brought and exhibited. The ones which are most agile are preferred by farmers. The calves from such bulls are in demand.

Jallikattu also has an other term called Eruthazhuvuthal. The word is a portmanteau of “Eru” meaning bull and “Thazhuvuthal” meaning embracing. Literally, it is embracing the bull, not taming the bull. This something that only few understand and there are so many misconceptions and false propanganda about jallikattu which was cherry picked by few vested interest groups like PETA who play major role in banning heritage sport of Tamil Nadu.

WHY I SUPPORT?

If jallikattu is banned, livestock keepers will be forced to abandon the raising of native livestock, which already stands threatened due to the extensive use of motor pumps, tractors and mechanised agriculture. If the sport is banned, it would be the death knell of native cattle species in Tamil Nadu.

We will not only lose our breeds but also our self-sufficiency in milk production as well as promotion of organic farming. If we lose our breeds and import foreign breeds, multinational commercial companies will dominate the dairy industry in India.

WHO IS AFFECTED?

Jallikattu is more dangerous to the folks who participate than to the bulls themselves. This may sound strange, the bullocks never by any chance gore any one who throws himself down on their approach; and the only danger arises from their accidentally reaching unseen someone who remains standing near the arena.

Yesteryear news reports are the standing proof, that would give numbers of casualties every year and hundreds of people injured. Not a single report had the number of killed bulls, maybe because there were none.

I suspect the intent of PETA, I guess they are is indirectly supporting humans, infact humans are social animals.

WHY ARE WE PROTESTING?
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has been rallying hard against the sport citing animal rights abuse.

PETA had also challenged the 2016 Environment Ministry notification by the NDA government. Through various reports, affidavits and photographs, The Animal Welfare Board of India(AWBI) has argued that Jallikattu bulls are physically and mentally tortured for the pleasure and enjoyment of human beings. They have also produced visual evidence for torture and cruelty to bullocks in Maharashtra’s bullock-cart races.

According to AWBI, Jallikattu or bullock-cart races conducted in this way have no historical, cultural or religious significance in Tamil Nadu or Maharashtra, and that the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, 1960, should be altered.

Small does not always mean small.

When you are good at despising little things, you are likely to throw away the tiny match stick that has the potential of putting the entire forest on fire! Little things do carry heavy potentials!
We’re all put here on this planet, such a tiny thing, truly. This tiny Earth, in the midst of an ever-larger universe. We were put here for reasons unbeknownst to us, reasons that may not even exist. And, above all that, we try so hard. People work to discover things, to try to create the greatest new thing, to learn everything, to find answers. But those answers are pointless.

Look at yourself from the space! You are very little, you are so tiny! But there is something big in you: Your extraordinary thoughts! Indeed, even from the space they look huge in light of the fact that they have the ability to change the universe, to change the space!

It all starts with a tiny, stupid idea, then one thing leads to another, and suddenly, you find something amazing and that’s: Madproject‘s #Miniature.

If this idea really excites you, then do shoot a mail to getmad@madproject.in, we will keep you counted.

We’re Mad About Madras

Ever though that urban cities would have days praising their inception? Well, Madras or today’s Chennai has a day celebrating its birthday!
The founding day of Madras is thought to be August 22, 1639.

We got the name Chennai just in 1996. Until then it was Madras, accepted to be gotten from Madrasapattinam which is a fishing village north of Fort St. George. An intriguing clarification is that it could have been gotten from a fisherman named Madrasan. We South Indians are as yet being gathered under the expression “Madrasis” which evolved as Madras.

You may know Madras as so many things. For some it’s one of the hottest, most humid, most intolerable cities while for others, it’s home, it’s safety and it’s freedom. No matter what you may know Madras for, it is undoubtedly one of the most important cities in India.

Madras, a clamoring city acclaimed for its cultural roots and manufacturing prowess, has something to offer for everybody. Many people know Superstar Rajinikanth, Viswanathan Anand and the Mozart of Madras — A.R.Rahman. Be that as it may, it has significantly more to offer — the Authentic Filter Coffee, the Beautiful Marina Beach, India’s first Bookshop at Higginbothams, Hot and steaming Idlis, the Madras Music Season, Countless sanctuaries, Automobile Industry.

Madras day are usually loaded with exercises that motivate community to concentrate on its past and present.

So here is a small token of madness for Madras.

What is Madproject?

Madproject started as a self initiated concept to exercise our creative muscles, we don’t seek any monetary benefit from this initiative.

Few projects can be really fun and challenging when we collaborate together, Madproject is one of those kind. We realised that the best teamwork comes from people who are working independently toward one goal.

MadProject is not restricted to just the usual art forms such as pen and paper. Do feel free to be as creative as possible in any medium that excites you. So let those creative juices flow, creating great art in any medium ranging from photography to your kitchen experiments. So feel free to explore our themes in any method that excites you.

Why?

These might not pay for themselves directly, but they do eventually pay off.

By doing things you like, and spotting how to do that, you’re learning something new. You’re pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone, and you never know where it might take you.

When you support people and encourage them, you’ll be inspiring them to see the best in themselves.

The whole idea is to gather creative ethusiasts’, where we can feel enlivened, taught, associated, and above all, cherished!

If this idea really excites you, then do shoot a mail to getmad@madproject.in, we will keep you counted.

Thanks for your time 🙂
